And, when that happens, simply patching the front side may not provide adequate strength. 3M's Automix flexible bumper patches are designed to provide additional strength to reinforce bumper repair where the damage has gone through to the backside. By stabilizing the backside with these bumpers, repair patches can basically be done with a 5-step process. First, clean the area to be patched. Next, apply the adhesion promoter (included with the patching material). Then, trim the patching material to the correct size, peel away the liner from the patching material, and apply the patches to the area to be repaired.
